Sorry Robin, that message was actually for Renee.

OK, so I have noticed that most dont like the idea of butterflies or fish at the wedding, and dogs and cats seem not to be real practical, soooooo how about DOVES????

Since most doves are homing pigeons, and trained to fly back to their coop, I consider them the lesser of evils if one wants to use animals in some way for their wedding.

However, I would provide the guests with parasols, so that the doves don't look down on the guests as they're being released and think, in the immortal words of Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog,

"gee, all those people are dressed so nice....

FOR ME TO POOP ON!

Wow! Lets see we have many animal "activists" that I think are going a little overboard... Suz, I didnt ask if it was strange, I simply stated you might think that. Thanks for your ideas and help Taleah, Jill,Renee and gemini (felt like I was getting ganged up on!) You all are very funny! Lissy are you against people having fish tanks, caged birds? I cant see how eating in front of a fish is that intimidating. I promise you ladies that I have found homes for about 7 of the tables and the others are going in my big tank with Oscar my fish and Raymond the crayfish (Im sure that Raymond will enjoy his gift) I got him out of a stream last fall and hes an awesome little creature!

Mary, you're right. I re-read what you wrote, and see that. Suz gets a slap on the wrist. But I still think it's strange! ;-)

"slimy puckering little fish" ?

If this is how you feel about the graceful little buggers, why are you wanting them at one of your most important days, if you think so lowly of them?

If they are of service to you, I would certainly think you could "retire" them in "good health". I don't think using fish is necessarily harmful to them. I've worked in aquariums & fisheries & they do handle stuff, I just think you should repay their services to you without your crayfish being involved. I'm sure he is a cute little bugger too & yes, I do know he needs to eat!

ps-I understand the food web very well. I've been up close & personal with many critters, even shark studies. I just really dislike cavalier attitudes about the lives of other creatures, with a few exceptions...cockroaches, fleas & flies come to mind, but I'll put spiders out of my shower & get them on their way in good health!

Oh, I went to college. A lot of idiotic things people do in college. Even worse then high school lots of time. Still juvenile attitudes but now, first time away from home....

You went to college? Please tell me where you went?

I remember getting goldfish as prizes at kid's events. Kids will get real tired of cleaning tanks, etc.

I went to Drexel University in Philadelphia. Some nights consisted of watching the frat boys run around thier house naked because they got shut out in a beer pong game (I have many memories, unfortunatly I grew out of that seen rather quickly, Im sure I missed out on lots!)

And I didnt mean to tare the poor fishies apart by calling them slimy, but from my fishing experiences, they always seem to fly out of my grip. I used puckering in another sentence, and I think thats the best part about gold fish. I wish I could get the larger prettier ones that actually look like thier kissing at you, but that would require a very large bowl and my cray fish wouldnt eat em, but I thought it would be cute and something to look at. I think Im going to use different colored marbles at each table and of course take care of all of them according to the advice I recieved. Im going to get the small fish and decorate the tops of the bowls incase some drunk decides to get a little fishy at our wedding (God knows my FHs family are the ones to worry about!) Who knows with the way my mind runs thought. I may totally change my mind by next year, but I dont think I want to do flowers, and I like the fish idea this month!
