Maybe some enterprising guest will slip a couple in the salad, too! Whoever finds a fish in their salad wins a prize!

Robin ,
they really can live for seven years,at least these ones did until some horrid child went fishing in the fish pond with sticks! But ummm never heard of taking one to the vet..perhaps people do. As for it being bad to look at on tables, dont they say goldfish are good feng shui?
But yes I have to agree with the drunken people knocking them over bit though, and I had a nicer image in my mind until it was interrupted by crayfish eating them!!I originally thought that was a joke. wow, what a way to get a discussion rolling.

Suz-
don't forget about the dog biscuit favors.....maybe wrapped with a bow? Or better yet, a handful of kibble wrapped in tulle?
The Bride and Groom's first song could be "They call it Puppy Love". I'm sure you know of a musical group named after animal that would love to play this wedding.

Mary-
I'm on your side on this one. Girls, I think some of your comments got a little out of hand....
But, we all have a right to say how we feel.
I have a fish tank myself, and fish die. I cry each time one dies, but that's life.
Mary isn't doing anything cruel! She does have a plan, and it is a natural life cycle.
Anyway, Mary, check out www.bluesagefloral.com
and take a look at centerpieces, picture #15. It will show you something a little extra that you can put along with the fish bowls. It looks really cute!

I am not for using live animals in the wedding. Too much of a hassle, and with fish dying with ease, too morbid.

Suz, it's a wedding not a frat party! hheheh

Just out of curiousity, I am a big animal lover, umm why do you have crayfish as pets? I've had just about everything under the sun as a pet, but never a crayfish, my brother used to throw them at me when we went to the lake. Not that I am afraid of wittle lobster, the memory still gives me chills.

The wedding band could be Skinny Puppy! Or Bow Wow Wow. Or that new all girl teen sensaation - Kittie.

Sevie - some of the weddings I've been to looked like frat parties!

Gemini - My issue with Mary is less that she wants to use goldfish in her centerpieces and more that she seems to enjoy patronizing people who respect other living creatures, no matter how small or ugly. Except for cockroaches. :-)

Taleah, golfish can and do live for a lot longer than 7 years. And yes, if your fish is sick, you can take them to the vet. He/she can prescribe medication.

My future in-laws have had their five golfish for more than 10 years now. Along with 2 turtles, 2 cats, a dog, a hampster, and a buggie. All go for semi-annual vet visits.

Goldfish, I'm sure, are good feng shui, but not on your dinning table.

Natural life cycle usually indicates natural feeding on the particular species' natural food source. Like they would in the wild. Dumping a bunch of, probably by that time, dead golfish into a tank for a crayfish to feed on, doesn't exactly fit into that senario.

There is a bakery in Columbus, I think it is called the Bow Wow Bakery, they make all natural homemade doggie biscuits and treats, they even make cakes and such for doggie, kitty, and human consumption...they also cater events! The only reason I know all this is 1. I am an animal lover and 2. they work with the local animal rescues for fund raisers and such.

I could get the number if anyone is interested. HEHHEHEHEH

Oh, how lovely, CUSTOMIZED dog biscuits! Especially nice with the couples' names baked in! What a nice touch Sevie!
Now, I have a question: If I pursue this "theme", do you think my 70lb. Collie centerpiece would infringe upon the conversation between the guests at the table?
