We are both divorced, parents and plan on marrying the end of summer. We want something simple, informal with a dinner afterward (not a reception with dancing and bar). Any ideas on how we can accomplish this? Live in Western Suburbs of Chicagoland. Chapels are extremely limited in this area. HELP!

How about a Bed & Breakfast? I'm sure there must be some historical ones in your area. You could have your ceremony and a high tea on the lawn (or inside) with strolling musicians. Have the B & B cater finger sandwiches and appetizers. Encourage female guests to wear hats and give all the male guests a flower for their lapels. Your kids and out-of-town guests could stay there, and so could YOU for your wedding night.

Lisa - something simple sounds great. How many people do you plan to invite? What kind of food would you like to serve? Give us a little more information about your practical parameters (budget, number of guests, level of informality, ages and interest/involvement level of kids, etc.) and your vision for the wedding, and the ideas will pour forth...
