My wedding is a family only ceremony on Saturday and I'm having a reception on Sunday. My question is do I wear my wedding dress at the reception?

It depends. Describe your dress. :-)

In line with what Connie asked, how formal is the reception going to be? Are you and your guests treating it exactly as a wedding reception, or is it more like a wedding "get together" or party? How will your guests be dressed and where is the reception being held? I think these are all important factors in deciding to wear the dress or not. But I'd lean towards wearing it, because after all, you may be one of the few people who could actually wear their wedding dress twice :)

I'm with Margie on this one. Give us a little more info...but I think you probably can wear it.

Though if it is a big, traditional thing with a long train and a big veil, it *might* feel a bit odd to put it on just for a party. I don't know. Please give us more information.

I think I would be a little surprised if I saw you in your wedding dress for a reception-only party on the day after your wedding.

My dress is a formal wedding gown. The reception is a formal reception, with all the traditional stuff like removing the garter, throwing the bouquet, cake etc.

Well, hell - go ahead and wear it! If I were a guest, I'd be surprised if you didn't.

I agree with Suz. I've been to receptions that took place after a private ceremony, or even after a ceremony that was in another state! And I didn't think it was strange to see the bride in her wedding gown, either.

Go for it Roxanne!! Getting to wear the dress twice would be great.
