I'm dark skinned - golden brown - that of Jennifer Lopez. Will a white, off-white or ivory gown suit me ? I'm thinking of a tapered A-line, off shoulders with an attached train. Very simple, diamond studded along the bodice, very elegant gown. Any recs? TIA

I think personaly a white gown would look good... but maybe it would look a little better if you went with a more shiney shimmery satin. Ivory would look just as great!

Lucky you! I am a little lighter than J.L. My gown is strapless with a satin bodice, I got it in white, the contrast is beautiful. Tanned shoulders look very pretty on both off white and white.

I think white, off white OR ivory will look good on golden skin. It is us pigment-impaired white as a sheet girls that have to worry! You are lucky- go with whatever you want!

Whatever your skin tone, it can be enhanced beautifully by daily applications of Suznyc's buttcream! She has gift-packs now too, in case you're looking for gifts for your bridesmaids, mother, mother-in-law, etc. Everybody loves them! They come in a specially-shaped container (complete with a picture of Suznyc on the side, being aided by her MOH) and contain candles, lotion, depilatory, bath oil, complexion treatment and of course, special romantic aids. She's also coming out with a line of anatomically correct tempurpedic foam cushions ... a wonderful rest for a tired head, available in all sizes and levels of firmness or sag for your comfort!

Carol: So you're a "ghost girl" too! I can sit in the sun for hours and get a nasty sunburn that NEVER turns into a tan. I plan to visit a tanning salon a few hundred times before my wedding so my skin doesn't match my ivory dress... Premila: What color do YOU think look best in? Personally, I look terrible in white. I think white, ivory, champagne, and off-white all classify as "white" anyway.

bvanderwill - be careful with the tanning salon and your skin type. I have several friends with similar skin, and the tanning salons at the least, did nothing and at the worst caused all sorts of weird patchy coloring. If you don't usually tan, then you may look a little funky. I'd say you're better off using a self-tanner. Try a few kinds out to see which works best, and then a couple of days before the wedding, book a massage and and bring it with you and have the massuese apply it. You'll end up with perfectly even color.

bvanderwill, the best thing to do is use a self-tanner. I too, will be wearing white, which I NEVER wear because it looks awful on me. I have used self-tanners before & they look fine. They are much cheaper than a tanning salon, you won't get any harmful rays & think of all the valuable time you'll save! I've tried a couple of brands & have never had any awful results even with the "cheap" brands.

I recommend bath and body works sunless tanner. It doesn't stink!! I mean it actually smells good and it looks natural...doesn't give you an ummpa-lumpa look. I have even tried that stupid infomercial crap tan-perfect. What a crock! Neutrogenia (sp) makes a pretty good sunless tanner, although it stinks alittle to me.

Has anyone ever tried a "sunless tanning salon treatment" where they exfoliate you and apply the cream? I have always applied the tanner myself, but for the wedding I want to make sure I don't miss anything. I can't imagine having orange splotches all over! Also, Clarins makes a great self-tanner...it's a touch stinky, but not bad.
