I'm making our programs. I have ordered "cranberry ice" (rose-ish) paper for the cover, and then the rest of the program (four pages--Catholic mass, go figure) will be just normal laser paper. BTW, our "colors" are silver and burgundy, but burgundy paper was too dark for the print. My question is, would it look too pretentious to have silver ribbon tied in the crease? (with silver ink for the print?) I want it to look elegant, but I don't want people to think I'm all into myself like Martha Stewart can be (sometimes--I do like the woman). :-)

Programs, arn't those the things that I find on the floor of the church, ya know, nobody really keeps except grandma and well you? LOL Honey, don't hurt yourself over this. I think less is more, the less work you have to do, the more fun you will be able to have. Leave the ribbon alone, let it go. :) And if you were Martha, you would have made the paper yourself, blended your own ink from the berries you grow in your green house, and used the quil pen freshly plucked from the swan that lives in the east pond on your 100 acre back yard.

tee-hee..... We are not going to bother with the programs. Yes, it is a catholic wedding, but no mass.

Crentz I think your programs sound lovely, but how will you print them in silver ink? I tried on my computer and it won't work.

BUT... to answer your question crentz, I think the silver tie would look good. Are the 4 pages going to be stapled?

Hi Crentz. My husband (an artist) and I made our own programs. We went all out on them because my husband can never do anything halfway artist halfass. :) I would say if you want to take the time, go ahead and use the silver ribbon. I don't think it will be too much with the silver ink, because the cover is cranberry. Anyway, I do want to let you know that about 50 people who were at our wedding told us they kept our invitation and program because they were so unique. Just do what makes you happy!

Jennifer, I used Microsoft Publish 98 and used the silver font choice, and I used a color printer. I'll probably do the silver ribbon, unless I run out of time and don't want to bother with it. Thanks for the advice! Christine

crentz, your program sounds lovely - I might be tempted to go with a silvery-gray satin ribbon (as opposed to one of those metallic lamé-style ones, in part beacuse they hold up against unravelling better). Will you use silver type on the white pages? You may want to run a test page by one of your older friends or relatives and check its legibility. A deep berry-colored ink might be easier on middle-aged (and older) eyes and still help to kind of tie things together visually.

Christine- I tried printing silver ink on mine with a color printer, but it wouldn't work. Maybe I was doing something wrong. Too late now, we already have the programs printed, and they are with black ink, oh well.
