For the first time ever, last night I had no difficulty staying up 'til 10 at the end of a 30-hour day, and today I have no jet-lag. When I got home last night, post-flight, post-delayed landing, post-lost luggage, post rushing to the office & scrambling to catch up (on work *and* this forum), I turned on the rarely-watched TV, thinking I'd catch something that would keep me awake. I couldn't pull myself away from the pre-taped carnage. I had to watch until the mystery-multi-millionaire stepped out of his screened booth and chose, well, the one who was probably most appropriate for him. At least, the bride he chose didn't have to worry about guest lists, centerpieces or bridal registries!

wasn't that just AWFUL? I flipped through it for all of 5 seconds and could take no more. I saw commercials for it during the week, and all I could think (as a 5th grade teacher) was "what a horrible message to send out...." Some people..... (and how deflating for the wanna-be brides that didn't "make it"! lol)

My receptionist was one of the Top 5 Finalists!!! (Stacie from Royal Oak, Michigan). She's been doing TV and radio interviews all morning. Kind of strange that I actually know someone who would CONSIDER marrying a complete stranger.

She's not bummed at all. I think she's getting off on all the publicity now. Mabe hoping for a Hollywood gig to come from all this (no joke!). It was pre-recorded last week so we knew she didn't win. They all had to sign pre-nups that left them NOTHING if he died or they divorced. They also had up to 1 year to have it annulled and left the "intimacy" issue up to their own discretion (for honeymoon). All the top 5 finalists got $2500 to spend at a local jewelers in Vegas.

How exactly did this work? Was it like the dating game? A group of women had to answer a bunch of questions or something, and then this rich man decided who he wanted to marry? Sounds weird to me! Perhaps he was having trouble finding dates or something?

I watched in disbelief, I could not believe it was actually real. I did however think that it was kind of nice that the multi-millionaire did seem pretty serious about the whole thing and I felt he chose the best one. Bvanderwill, wow!!! What are the odds. I can't remember the finalist by names, was your receptionist the other blond finalist?? I just could not imagine marrying a complete stranger, millionaire or not. Different strokes for different folks.

Stacie was the brunette on the end. When asked, "Will you really marry the guy?" she said, "Yup."

Wait a minute, the pre-nups left them *nothing* if he died? what about when they're 85 and still happily married? What if he dies - how will she support herself? I suppose that if he's really a nice guy, he'll put her in a will that will supersede the pre-nup ... Wow, bvanderwill, small world. So did Stacie say whether any of the other contestants were upset not to be chosen? I looked him up - he starred in "the revenge of the killer tomatoes" or some such movie. Wasn't the one he chose the woman who said she wanted to travel and have fun fun fun? Had they met before they saw each other on the taped show? What did Stacie get with her jewelry money?

Bvanderwill, I don't know if you ever watched the television show Full House, but Stacie really resembles the girl that played the uncle's girlfriend. I thought he would pick the one he chose or Stacie. She had some really nice answers. Tell Stacie, that I guy I work with thinks she is HOT!!!! He's single and nice looking but not a millionaire by far.
